About

Hello there!

I'm Cheryl.

Thanks for popping by.

I'm a risk analyst by training.

I started to bake because I had developed an allergy to dairy products, chicken and chilli while I was schooling.

When I first found out about my allergies, I had no idea what it meant. Personally, I cannot stand the smell and taste of milk, so I wasn't too troubled by that. Until I realised that all the desserts I so loved, contained dairy products in them.

Because food allergies aren't a well-understood medical problem in Singapore (it's getting better now but still lacking compared to Western countries and Australia), I started to bake.

Since I was no genius in baking and had never stepped into the kitchen to cook anything (apart from instant noodles), my initial bakes left a lot to be desired. The first post on this blog was not the first item I've baked. I remember the first thing I baked was dairy-free orange biscuits. They tasted nothing like biscuits - they were cakey, tasted like flour and was just plain disgusting.

But despite that, I didn't give up on baking, because how could we live without DESSERTS?!

Alright, I exaggerate, but I just kept baking and reading stuff online to enhance my knowledge in baking matters. Before I knew it, I fell in love with baking. Perhaps it's God's way of pushing me into something I'd love. ^^

I started this blog as a way to remember my experiments in the kitchen. But clearly at that time, it didn't occur to me that I would forget where I got the recipes from or misplace the recipes.  When I look back at those posts, I seriously have no idea how to make some of those items anymore.  So from now on, I'll link to the recipes that I've used so that we can all remember how to make them. :)

xoxo
